Project: Residential SubdivisionWhere: gresham, oregonOverviewNGI completed a Phase I ESA, Asbestos & Lead Paint Assessment, and Underground Storage Tank Assessment for this multi-parcel property in Gresham, Oregon in anticipation of its development for residential purposes. Metal and heavy oil impact to soil and groundwater was identified in an outside automobile part storage area. The project was challenging in its location adjacent to a stream. After characterizing the nature and extent of environmental impact present, NGI oversaw completion of a removal action and groundwater treatment. Groundwater treatment consisted of groundwater pumping followed by air sparging to reduce contaminant levels to acceptable concentrations for discharge into the sanitary sewer system. These remedial actions successfully reduced both the soil and groundwater impact allowing the project to receive a No Further Action determination from the Oregon DEQ under the Voluntary Cleanup Program. The area of the remedial action was subsequently developed into a wetland for storm water runoff from the development. In addition, several USTs were closed through removal and an asbestos abatement was completed for the on-site structures. |
