Overview

Washington County was extending NE Brookwood Parkway from West Baseline Road to NE Airport Road. NGI provided materials testing services under its open-ended contract with Washington County for soils, asphalt and concrete testing. NGI also provided design and testing of suitable soil cement mixtures for the project. Dry densities of 1688 kg/m3, with 7 day compressive strengths of 2060 kPa were achieved on the site's slightly clayey, fine sandy silt soil. Other services provided included observation of embankment placement and compaction, moisture density relationship, fresh properties and compression testing of concrete, testing of cement treated subgrade, oil content/aggregate gradation and theoretical maximum density of asphaltic concrete. Concrete work included signal pole bases, concrete walls, culverts, inlets, curbs, gutters and driveways.
