Project: railroad crossing improvementsWhere: various locations in OregonOverviewODOT requested NGI’s evaluation of existing pavements and base thickness at various railway crossings proposed for grade improvements in Oregon. These crossings were located in both urban and rural areas. NGI cored the pavement, sampled the underlying aggregate, and measured the thickness of these materials. Representative samples were tested in NGI's laboratory for moisture content, gradation, Atterberg limits and R-Value. NGI's engineering analysis and pavement recommendations were based on AASHTO's Guide for Design of Pavement Structures. NGI prepared and submitted a final report which included explanation of field activities, recommendations, core logs, exploration logs, laboratory test results and new pavement sections. After the report was submitted the ODOT engineer commented on the thoroughness of NGI's analysis and documentation. |
