Overview

NGI was retained to provide geotechnical engineering, engineering geologic reconnaissance, and forensic expert services in support of a landslide near Bonners Ferry, Idaho. The massive landslide resulted in a train derailment and associated injury. NGI was requested to complete document review of prior slope repairs along the rail line, review climatic conditions as they related to a potential triggering of the slide, and to complete a stereoscope review of aerial photographs for potential slide features prior to the event. After completion of this review NGI then mobilized to the slide location and completed a geotechnical engineering and engineering geologic reconnaissance.
