Key Personnel

THOMAS S. GINSBACH, P.E., G.E., ENV. E
President/Principal Engineer/Technical Director
Mr. Ginsbach has acquired over 30 years of experience conducting and managing a variety of geotechnical and environmental projects throughout Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and California. These projects have included subsurface exploration and foundation design for residential, commercial and industrial buildings, high-rise buildings and towers, roadways, public works facilities, underground structures, transmission lines, waterfront facilities, and pavements. Associated investigations have included analysis of embankment and slope stability, landslide diagnosis and repair, seismicity modeling and liquefaction studies, landfill and land reclamation projects, coastal protection, deep foundation design, groundwater studies, and hazardous waste assessments and cleanups. Other projects have included environmental due diligence investigations, subsurface contaminant assessments, and environmental remediation.
STEVE DAY, P.E., G.E., ENV. E.
Vice President/Principal Engineer
Mr. Day has over 20 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, construction oversight, environmental assessment, and environmental remediation. Geotechnical engineering projects completed by Mr. Day have involved slope stabilization, trench shoring, drilled piers, and driven piles. Mr. Day has been responsible for construction oversight on numerous commercial, municipal and manufacturing facilities. Environmental assessment activities completed by Mr. Day have consisted of numerous Phase I ESAs for property transactions and Phase II drilling investigations of U.S. Department of Defense facilities, uranium mines, and automotive service facilities. Environmental remediations completed by Mr. Day have incorporated hydraulic containment, bioremediation, and excavations with building underpinning.
MICHAEL A. GINSBACH
Construction Services Manager/Special Inspector
Mr. Ginsbach oversees the day-to-day operations for the special inspection and materials testing work completed by NGI/NTI. Mr. Ginsbach has over 20 years experience in the construction and inspection field. Mr. Ginsbach is the primary contact for field scheduling of materials testing technicians and special inspectors for such clients as the City of Tualatin, City of Lake Oswego, Washington County, City of Woodburn, Portland Parks and Recreation, City of Portland and the City of St. Helens. Mr. Ginsbach is experienced in overseeing both large and small construction inspection projects such as OHSU’s Patient Care Facility or the Toyota Terminal 4 redevelopment project.
BRIDGETT K. ADAME
Laboratory Manager
Ms. Adame has over 17 years of experience in the construction materials field and laboratory testing. Her duties have included project management, laboratory technician training and supervision, quality system manual development, and agency accreditation. She is competent at reviewing plans and specifications for materials testing requirements and communicating with the owner, contractor, engineer, architect, and building official to assure that the relevant codes are being observed. She is experienced in managing both large and small laboratory testing programs for concrete, masonry, asphaltic concrete, soils, aggregates, and fireproofing. Ms. Adame's years of experience are utilized in her oversight of a number of laboratory test methods on soils including direct shear, one-dimensional consolidation, Triaxial shear, flexible wall permeability, and soil classification tests.
DAVID N. HAMILTON
ASNT ACCP Level III UT & MT/Special Inspector
Mr. Hamilton is a special inspector for Northwest Geotech, Inc.,/Northwest Testing, Inc. and is responsible for special inspection and materials testing of soils, aggregate, asphaltic concrete, proprietary anchors, reinforced concrete, structural masonry, structural steel, and structural lumber.  Mr. Hamilton has extensive experience conducting construction services for an inspection and laboratory materials testing agency.  He is experienced in the field inspection and laboratory testing of reinforced concrete, structural welding, high strength bolting, residential building, residential electrical, proprietary anchors, structural lumber, soils, aggregates and asphaltic concrete.  He is competent at reviewing plans and specifications for special inspection requirements and communicating with the owner, contractor, engineer, architect, and building official to assure that the relevant codes are observed.
WAYNE R. OLSEN, P.E.
Project Engineer
Mr. Olsen has over 20 years of experience in subsurface investigations for geotechnical and hazardous waste evaluations, distressed structure assessments, slope stability and landslide assessments, shoring design and installation, and construction monitoring for quality control. He has been involved as a project manager on a wide variety of municipal, commercial, and residential developments. Mr. Olsen is assigned to various geotechnical, environmental, and materials testing projects for the firm.
ALAN P. BEAN, P.E., G.E.
Project Geotechnical Engineer
Mr. Bean has acquired over 20 years of experience conducting and managing a variety of geotechnical, geologic hazards, and construction monitoring projects in Washington and Oregon.  Throughout his career, he has focused on public infrastructure and critical facilities, including geotechnical management of many of the regions largest transportation projects.  Mr. Bean began his career in the geotechnical departments of the California Department of Transportation and California Department of Water Resources before moving to the Portland area in 1991.  Mr. Bean’s solid understanding of the regions geologic complexities comes from his formal training in both geological and geotechnical engineering, and his experience with regional hazards mapping studies for the Water Bureau and design and construction of many of the Cities longest public transportation alignments.  He has also evaluated mixed use facilities and designed for many of the regions largest retailers and transit oriented mixed use developments including Fred Meyer, Walgreens, and Safeway.
